Upgraded KBC Complex now open for business

A number of enterprises are dashing to open shop at the newly refurbished business complex, the Kigali Business Centre (KBC), just few months after it was completed in August.

Located in Kimihurura, a few meters from the iconic Kigali Convention Centre, the new facility replaced the old KBC which was built in 2003.

The upgrade was aimed at not only to conform to the dictates of the Kigali City Master Plan but also to give Rwandans and visitors to the country premium retail and office experience.

The complex has four blocks ranging from three to eight levels and is availed with supervision rooms that ensure security around the building.

Besides retail space, the building boasts of office space and it has a total gross built area of 24,000sqm.

It is also made with big underground parking for customers that can accommodate over 200 vehicles as well as another parking on the outer compound of the complex.

The construction standards of the upgraded KBC have earned it a top prize at the continental level after it emerged the Best Alternative Asset-Refurbished Buildings at the Africa Property Investment Awards held in South Africa this past September.

The new complex is fast attracting the attention of different business entities like banks, bars, and restaurants, and retail stores as well as coffee shops, among others, to settle in while more rooms are being booked.

Just three months since it was completed, over 50 percent of KBC’s space has already been taken up and occupants are open for business, according to the property’s management.

Some of the businesses that are already open at the complex include retail stores like By The Way Shop, House of MoNo and Avenue250; Lily’s Blossom, which caters house decorations as well as Toy Kingdom, which sells kids’ items, have already opened at KBC.

On the other hand, some banks like BPR Atlas Mara, Cogebanque and Equity Bank have also booked space at KBC are also soon opening new branches.

Meanwhile, besides restaurants and supermarkets, some coffee shops like Camellia, Brioche, and Café Neo are in race to open soon as they look to cash in on the forthcoming festive season.

Although Planete Club is no longer at KBC, the new complex is built with an area for entertainment at the rooftop which is reserved for a bar and restaurant.
